Donna M. White (81) of Oregon, Il. Peacefully passed away in her home Oct. 12, 2017. Donna was born Oct. 2, 1936, at Blossburg State Hospital, Blossburg, PA. Daughter of Herbert F. Frisk and Rhoda English Ladd.
Donna graduated from Westfield High School in Westfield, PA. in 1954. Donna married Robert White on Nov. 29, 1957, divorced 1979 and never remarried. Donna retired from Illinois Dept. of Human Services as an administrator in 2000 after 25 years. Donna was member of the St. Brides Episcopal Church in Oregon, Il. and Colonial Dames XVII Century and DAR in Dixon, Il. Donna loved spending time with her family playing scrabble and cards.
Donna is survived by her sister Vera Rounds (Dundee, NY). Sons David (Ella) White, Steven (Tracie) White, John (Pamela) White, and William (Ercella) White. Grandchildren Tarin, Stephanie, Holden, Christian, Tiffany, Branden Johnson, Casimir and Debbie. Great grandchildren Olyvia, Greyson, Serenity and one on the way. Special sisters Patricia Gearhart and Judy Doherty.
Donna’s memorial service will be held Saturday October 21, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Bride’s Church, Oregon, IL. There will be coffee and donuts following the service.
Oregon, IL, Charles E. Kump Jr., age 77, passed away Saturday October 7, 2017 in Swedish American Hospital, Rockford, IL. Charles was born June 2, 1940 in Oregon Township, IL the son of Charles E. & Florence E. (Steffa) Kump. He lived in the area all his life and was a self-employed carpenter. Charles served in the US Army for 2 years. He was a member of the Mt. Morris Moose Lodge #1551, Carpenter’s Union. When Charles was not working he spent time watching old classic westerns.

Leaf River, IL, Patrick M. ” pree-pop” Soper, age 67, passed away on September 28th, 2017 at Generations neighbors Nursing Home in Byron il after a long Battle of COPD. Patrick was born may 7th, 1950 in chicago,il the son of Leonard and Natalie (vanderley) soper. He was a Vietnam veteran in 1968 and worked mainly as a chicago cab driver and a OTR truck driver. He was a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears and the cubs. He was an amazing pool player,chef, and all around amazingly hilarious man. Mt. Morris, IL, Frances Kay “ Bohnert” Duro, age 76, passed away on Thursday September 14, 2017 with her family at her side. Kay was born December 10, 1940 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Franz & Henny (Boysen) Bohnert. Kay graduated from Arlington High School, Arlington Heights, IL. She was an avid sportsman, but loved bowling, softball and writing poetry. Kay enjoyed watching the Bears, Cubs, Bulls and White Sox in the last couple of years. Kay was a dedicated mother, grandmother, always was there for her family, and never forgot milestones in her family’s lives.

Mt. Morris, IL, Lola J. Duncan, age 99, passed away on Monday September 11, 2017 in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mt. Morris, IL. Lola was born November 3, 1917 in Leaf River, IL the daughter of Galen & Carrie (Fisher) Blake. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1932. Lola married Robert L. Duncan in February 1937 in Mt. Morris, IL. She was a member of Disciples United Methodist Church, Mt. Morris, IL. A highlight for Lola the last 50 years was the Sunday Family dinners. She was a fabulous cook, seamstress, quilter, loved to crochet, her time with friends playing cards, and spending time with her family. Her treasured time was with her immediate and extended family members. Lola was known for her homemade caramels and English toffee during Christmas time throughout many generations.
Lola is survived by son: Steven Duncan, Mt. Morris, IL; daughters: Barbara Satterfield, DeKalb, IL, Marion (John) Thompson, Mt. Don served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965 serving in Korea. Don married Nancy Snodgrass on July 20, 1985 in Mt. Morris, IL. He worked for Barbara Coleman and Vensys Technologies. Don was involved with many things; his favorite pass time was racing homing pigeons.

Rockford, IL, Darlene Nelson, age 78, Nee: Holverson, passed away at Swedish American Hospital on September 3, 2017 after a brief illness. Darlene grew up in Mt. Morris, IL and was a proud and beloved graduate of the Mt. Morris High School Class of 1957. Classmates describe Darlene as uplifting, loyal, and elegant. She had a love of music that she expressed over a lifetime through multiple bands, piano accompaniment, teaching piano, church choirs, bell choirs, and ushering at the Mendelssohn Center. Part of her adult life was spent in Lake County, IL and she eventually returned to the Rockford area. Darlene’s family will miss her and is thankful for the friends and family who helped her during some difficult times.

Lillian was born on November 21, 1921 in Luverne, MN the daughter of Peter & Alice (Leech) Merritt. She worked for Maxon Manor and for Caron Spinning Company, retiring from Caron in 1983.

Wendell F. Voss, 88, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 at Serenity Home and Hospice surrounded by loved ones. Wendell, or Mr. Wonderful as he was better known, was born to Frederick and Lillian (Leppert) Voss on August 21,1928 in Aurora, Illinois. Wendell married the love of his life Bonita Finck on August 13, 1948, and they were blessed with 65 years of wedded bliss before she preceded him in death in 2014. In 1974 the Voss family moved from Plainfield to Mt. Morris where Wendell worked as a mechanic and farmed just west of town. The family attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Morris.
Wendell is survived by his 4 children: Randy (Ruth) Voss, Captain Cook, Hawaii; Sandra (Nate) Schug, Yuma, Arizona; Cindy McRobie, Cohutta, Georgia, and Scott Voss, Oregon, Illinois; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 siblings; Smokey the Cat; and many special friends. His parents, a sister, and the one true love of his life preceded him in death. The nickname Mr. Wonderful fit this kind, caring, and hardworking man perfectly, and he will be truly missed by all who knew him. Oregon, IL, Jerry Yount, age 79, went to be with the Lord on Friday August 11, 2017 in The Serenity Hospice & Home, Oregon, IL. Jerry was born June 3, 1938 in Pine Creek Township, IL the son of Paul & Ethel (Rieken) Yount. Jerry attended Pine Creek Country one-room schools and graduated from Mt. Morris High School class of 1956. He signed up for the Army Reserves during his senior year of high school, and served for six years. Jerry married Beverly A. Sheely from Pine Creek Township in Mt. Morris on June 3, 1959.
Jerry farmed and milked cows from 1957 until 1974 when he started Jerry’s Country Cabinet Shop; where he did remodeling of kitchen and bathrooms, and building of custom cabinets retiring in December of 2011. Jerry attended Pine Creek Independent Church since 1972. He enjoyed taking pictures and making spiritual plaques.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years: Beverly Yount, Oregon, IL; 4 children: Jody Yount, Oregon, IL; Jude (Annette) Yount, Mt. Morris, IL; Jeff (Jackie) Yount, Mt. Morris, IL; and Jill (Allen) Millhouse, Mt. Morris, IL; 8 grandchildren: Rebecca (Rick) Heuerman; Jacob Millhouse; Emily (Shane Harvey) Yount; Austin Yount; Jeffrey Yount; Jordan Yount; 2 step grandchildren: Whitney (Mike Kahly) Near; Tiffany Otten; 2 great grandchildren: Lexi and Lia Heuerman; 4 step great grandchildren: Noah Near; Aaliyah Kahly; Jayden Otten; and Elizabeth Pearce; and many nieces and nephews.
