Mount Morris, IL – Andrew John “Andy” Vaughn, 25, of Mount Morris died Saturday, April 11, 2009, in Rock Island Nursing and Rehab Center, Rock Island. Born Feb. 1, 1984, in Rockford, the son of Gordon and Marcia (Griffin) Vaughn. A lifelong member of the community, Andy worked as a roll tender in the offset press room at Quebecor Printing for five years. Member of the Graphic Arts International Union. He graduated from Oregon High School, Class of 2002. Andy was a very caring and outgoing person with a big heart. He loved listening to the Beatles, was an avid skateboarder, snowboarder and NASCAR fan. Survivors include grandmothers, Francis Vaughn of Oregon and Merlene Griffin of Mount Morris; sister, Reanna (Chuck) Brant of Crandall, Ga.; a very special niece, Megan Brant of Crandall; and many special aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by grandfathers, Venus Vaughn and Donald Griffin. Service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, in Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt St., with visitation from 5 p.m. to service time; the Rev. David Rogula will officiate. Cremation afterwards. Memorials to be established.

Leaf River, IL – Larry D. “Corn” Wesley, 61, of Leaf River died Thursday, March 12, 2009, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Born March 22, 1947, son of John H. Wesley and Ethel (Miner) Wesley. Married Rosalie Burke on Aug. 5, 1977, in Hartland. Graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture education and later received his Master of Science degree in agronomy for the University of Illinois. Larry was a vocational agriculture teacher at Leaf River High School for 10 years, then at Stillman Valley High School for 24 years. After his retirement, he worked intermittently as the federal meat inspector at Spectrum Meats in Mount Morris. Survivors include wife, Rosalie; daughter, Danielle Molly (fiance, Tom Lawlor) Wesley of Yarmouth, Maine; brothers, Jerry (Ruth Ann) Wesley of Witt, David (Jan) Wesley of Cave City, Ark.; sister, Janet (Richard) Quisenberry of Raleigh; sister-in-law, Nahon Angio; seven nieces; and two nephews. Predeceased by parents; and brothers, James, Glendal and Fred Wesley. No service. Visitation from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 16, in Finch Funeral Home. Married Robert Price on Oct. 6, 1979, in Wood Dale. She was employed by the Target Distribution Center in DeKalb as a packer. Veteran of the the U.S. Army. Survived by husband, Robert: daughter, Jennifer E. Price of Dixon; granddaughter, McKenzy Grace Price of Dixon; mother, Grace E. Berner of Rochelle; sister, Debra Anne (Michael) Winters of Sycamore; brothers, Paul Richard (Sheila) Broughton of Oregon and Peter Joseph (Danni) Broughton of Rochelle. MOUNT MORRIS, IL – H. CLARENCE ‘MITCH’ MITCHELL, 101 MOUNT MORRIS – H. Clarence “Mitch” Mitchell, 101, of Mount Morris died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Pinecrest Manor. Mitch was born Jan. 11, 1907, in Elizabeth to Wilbur and Marie (Tetard) Mitchell DVM. He married Margaret Long on Aug. 12, 1931, in Mount Morris; she died Nov. 22, 2000. Clarence was editorial director of printing publications at Kable Printing Co. He retired Feb. 26, 1967, after 45 years of employment. Mitch belonged to the Mount Morris Church of the Brethren and the International Typographical Union. He was an original trustee for the foundation board of Highland Community College, Freeport. The Highland Community College Mitchell Library is named in his honor. In Clarence’s lifetime, he authored and published three books: “River Hill Soliloquy” in 1986, “Diary of a Journeyman” in 2004 and “Montana Montage” in 2006. Survived by several cousins. Also predeceased by his parents; and brother, Walter. Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Church of the Brethren, 409 W. Brayton Road, with Pastor Virginia Haney officiating. Mt. Morris – Robert E. Buser 70 of Mt. Morris died Monday December 22, 2008.
He was a life long resident of Mt. Morris,
The Eldest son of Gail and Harriet (Conrad) Buser, born July 26, 1938.
He was a graduate of MMHS class 1956, went on to The University of Illinois getting a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Later he returned to achieve his Masters.
He loved the Illnini and stayed connected by his work on the Engineering
Alumni board. Bob was also involved with the Kable Concert Band. He announced the band for the past 25 years. He was on the Board of the Mt. Morris Senior Center, and he would never miss the 4th of July parade in his blue1950 Dodge Truck with the Dixie band.
Many may remember Bob in his famous black and white 1953 Ford that took him to Rockford everyday, over 600,000 miles, and earned him a Philipps 66 Trop Arctic radio commercial and a spot on WGN TV.
Bob worked for Sundstrand Aviation and then Hamilton Sundstrand for 43 years. He worked an additional 2 year contract to finish a pet project, the F22 Raptor. He loved his job and the places it took him, and the people he met and worked with.
Family was very important to Bob. He is survived by his fiancée Doreen White of Mt.Morris, brother Frederic (Rita) Buser of Byron, brother Charles (Deborah) Buser of Leaf River, niece MaryAnn (Rich Akers) Fredericks of Milledgeville, Anne (Mike) Felton of Norcross, GA, Kaila (Jim) Slade of Hanover, Amy Buser of Missoula, nephew Nathaniel (Amy) Buser of Byron, 1 great niece, 4 great nephews, cousin Gretchen Diab of Mt.Morris, and aunt Elva Buser of Mt.Morris.
Memorials have been established for Kable Concert Band and the Mt. Morris Senior Center Elevator Fund.
The visitation will be at Finch Funeral home in Mt. Morris on Sunday December 28th from 4 to 6 pm. The Funeral will be at Finch Funeral Home on Monday December 29th at 11am, with the Rev. Larry Jameson officiating. Burial will be at Adeline Cemetery, Adeline, IL. Memorials to: Mt. Morris Senior Center Elevator Fund and Kable Concert Band.

Chana – LaRee Dianne Rasmussen, 62, of Chana went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 28, 1946, in Ortonville, Minn., daughter of Wallace Dale Burdick and LaJean Marie (Zahrbock) Burdick. Married Vernon L. Rasmussen on Sept. 28, 1963, in Polo. She was a homemaker. LaRee was a very talented lady who loved her hobbies of sewing, quilting, tatting, variety of crafting, dollhouse miniatures, gardening, angel collecting, bird watching and spending time with her family and friends. Member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Paynes Point. Member of the church bell choir, quiet quilters, National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME) and Greater Rockford Area Miniature Society. Survived by husband, Vernon; daughters, LaCinda (Dave) Hansen of Steward and LaZette Rasmussen of Leaf River; grandchildren, LaCole and Trevor Coffey of Steward; sister, LaChele (Royce) Cunningham of Lee Center; brothers, Terry (Irene) Burdick of Rock Falls and Llyn Burdick of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and mother-in-law, Lavonne Rasmussen of Oregon. Leaf River – Kenneth L. Bicksler, 88, of Leaf River went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, in Swedish-American Hospital, Rockford, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 10, 1920, in Freeport, the son of Archie and Orelda (Brandt) Bicksler. He married Lillian Unger on July 12, 1941, in Rochelle; she died Dec. 11, 1968. He married Leatrice Lynch on Jan. 2, 1970, in Lanark; she survives him. Ken was a farmer in the Leaf River and Forreston area, and a machinist at Barber-Colman in Rockford. He retired March 31, 1986. Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Pacific Theater in World War II. Member of Leaf River United Methodist Church; Jerry Wickam American Legion Post 1148, Leaf River; and the Leaf River Lions Club. Ken was voted Leaf River Citizen of the Year for his active community volunteerism. He loved yardwork, playing cards, traveling, hunting mushrooms and family gatherings where he could tease his grandchildren. Survived by his wife, Leatrice; daughters, Diane (J.T.) Wells and Cindy (Steve) Mongan, both of Mount Morris; sons, Merle (Sherrie) Bicksler of Leaf River, Gary (Nancy) Bicksler of Roscoe, Tom (Marilyn) Bicksler of Dakota, Dennis (Julie) Bicksler of Roanoke and Rick (Renee) Bicksler of Byron; 10 grandsons; six granddaughters; 21 great-grand-children; brothers, Russ (Betty) Bicksler of Freeport, Don (Betty) Bicksler of Mount Morris and Wayne (Donna) Bicksler of Mount Morris; and sisters, Lois Russell of Lena, Ethel Svanda of Byron and Dorothy (Tom) Mahon of Byron. Mount Morris, IL – Neita Aileen Bjorklund, 83, of Mount Morris died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, in Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home, Mount Morris. Born Oct., 22, 1925, in the family home in Eagle Point Township, Ogle County, daughter of Paul Weigle and Mildred (Ports) Weigle. Graduated from Polo High School, Class of 1943 and attended Rockford Business College. Married Ronald Bjorklund on Jan. 6, 1974, in Oregon. Lived in Mount Morris for 63 years. Employed as a secretary at Kable News Co. in Mount Morris, previously worked for a local seed corn business in Polo, Watt Publishing Co. and was a day care provider. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose 985, Mount Morris and held the College of Regents degree. As a young girl Neita was a member of the girl’s community 4-H Club, United Brethren Brick Church in Polo and participated in and won many spelling bees. She also played alto saxophone in the Polo High School band. Survivors include husband, Ron Bjorklund; sons, Casey (Shareen) Buck and Clancy Buck, all of Polo; daughters, Sandra (George) Grobe of Rockford, Julie (Doug) Shank of Huntley and Bridget (Rob) Lester of Liberty, Mo.; stepsons, Bruce (Keatha) Bjorklund of Canton, S.D., David (Beverly) Bjorklund of Byron and Wayne (Marcy) Bjorklund of Oregon; stepdaughter, Nancy (Michael) Prier of West Burlington, Iowa; seven grandsons; four granddaughters; four stepgrandsons; four stepgraddaughters; seven great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; sisters, Doris (Dwight) Silvius and Phylis (Bud) Davis, all of Polo.
