Marjorie was born September 10, 1922 in Chariton, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph Harley & Maggie (Grant) Barker. she graduated from Chariton High School Class of 1941. Marjorie married Richard Thomas Cowan in Des Moines, Iowa on May 19, 1945. He preceded her in death August 19, 1993. She worked in the bindery department, Kable Printing Company 10 years. Marjorie enjoyed golfing and bird watching. She lived in the Mt. Morris and Leaf River Area for 51 years.

She is survived by 2 sons: James (Gwen) Cowan, Leaf River, IL and Thomas (Jody) Cowan, Mounds View, MN. 2 Daughters: Kathryn Long, Thomasville, NC and Deborah (Roger) Branscomb, Leaf River, IL. 10 Grandchildren, 15 Great- Grandchildren, 7 Great Great- Grandchildren. 1 Brother: John Barker, Granite City, CA. 3 sisters: Beverly (Elmo) Combruzzi, Joliet, IL; Ethel Steele, Des Moines, IA, and Edna, St. Louis, MO.

She is Preceded in Death by, Parents; Husband, Richard; Daughter Patricia Cowan; 3 Brother: Jim, Bernard, and Charles; 1 Sister, Ardith.

Bruce graduated from Belvidere High School Class of 1957. He Married Carol J. Overman September 26, 1959 in Belvidere, IL. Bruce worked for 26 years for the Moline Corporation Foundry in maintenance department retiring in 1991. Bruce was the Owner/ Operator of “The Idle Hour” in Mt. Morris from 1992-2008. Bruce has lived in Mt. Morris for 18 years coming from the Belvidere area. He was a member of the Belvidere Moose Lodge.

Leaf River, IL – LaVonne V. Kielsmeier, age 80, died September 30, 2010, in Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford, IL. LaVonne was Born February 26, 1930 in Leaf River Township, IL, the daughter of Maurice C. & Sylva (Schreiber) Martin. She graduated from Leaf River High School Class of 1947. She Attended Rockford College for Women, majoring in Music and English. She married Bruce E. Keilsmeier February 6, 1949 in Leaf River, IL. He preceded her in death September 8, 1990. Bruce and LaVonne lived the majority of their lives on the family farm. They also owned and operated the Patty Wagon Cafe, mobile catering units, and they ran the lunch rooms at the Chana Sale Barn and the Pecatonica Sale Barn. LaVonne worked as Post Mistress in Egan, IL, and taught piano lessons, passing on her love for music to many children. She was a member of the Pine Creeker ladies aid society and a charter member of the Leaf River Lucky Leaf square dancer club. LaVonne was a devoted member of the Leaf River United Methodist Church, serving as the Past Presidents of the Church Board and the UMW. Her great joy was playing piano and organ for her church and other churches as needed. LaVonne was known as Aunt Polly to many Nieces and Nephews

Survived by 4 Daughters: Cynthia (Herman Vogt) Book, Byron, IL; Catherine (Tim) Greenfield, Oregon, IL; Bev (Michael) Campbell, Shannon, IL; Betty Miller, Polo, IL. 2 Sons: Marty Kielsmeier, Leaf River, IL and Joseph (Dawn) Kielsmeier Sr., Leaf River, IL. 12 Grandchildren and 13 Great-Grandchildren. Special Sister-in -Law, Margaret Martin, Rockford, IL. Several Nieces and Nephews.

Preceded in death by Parents, Husband Bruce; and Brother Jason, and Son-in-Law Richard Miller.

She was born on January 24, 1917 in Leaf River Township, IL., to Charles and Kathryn (Croft) Thomas. She graduated from Leaf River High School, class of 1933. She married Ralph E. Schelling on August 16, 1936. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1999. She lived the majority of her life in the Leaf River, IL. area. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Leaf River, IL., and the United Methodist Women. She was an organist for the church for more than 50 years, and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

She is survived by her two sons: Roger (Patty) Schelling of Alta Loma, CA; Randy (Cis) Schelling of Kenosha, WI. One daughter: Marilyn (Dennis) Skoneczka of Springfield, VA. LEAF RIVER, IL – Carol Jean Stukenberg, 65, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, in Trinity Medical Center at Terrace Park, Bettendorf, Iowa. Carol was born Dec. 4, 1944, in Chicago to Harold and Nan (Vought) Crummer. She married James L. Stukenberg on Aug. 21, 1965, in Rockford. She graduated from Freeport High School, Class of 1962. She graduated from Freeport Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. She was employed as a registered nurse at Byron Medical Center, Ogle County Health Department, Village of Progress, Oregon, and a School Nurse for Winnebago School District (known as Nurse Carol). Carol was a loving wife and mother. She was a Sunday school teacher, a foster parent of many, 4-H Leader of the Early Risers 4-H Club and was a member of the Leaf River Baptist Church. Survived by her husband, Jim; sons, Jamie (Theresa) Stukenberg of Rockford, Steven (Christine) Stukenberg of Woodstock; daughters, Amanda (Jesse) Godec of Columbia, Mo., and Jennifer (Juan) Hernandez of Dixon; grandchildren, Grace Hernandez and Camille Hernandez, both of Dixon, Sage Godec of Columbia; sisters, Judy (Joe) Reed of Freeport, Linda (Jack) Dickey of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Alice (Ron) Craven of Egan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He worked for Kable Printing Company in the Mail Room and he also worked for Kable News Company as a janitor retiring in 1979 after 50 years of work. He was a member of the Mt. Morris Brethren Church. He was also a member of the Ogle County Farm Bureau, and American Legion Post 143.

He graduated from Mount Morris High School, Class of 1988. He received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Bradley University in 1994. He married Michelle Gensler on June 17, 1995, in Kickapoo. He was employed as a corporate industrial engineer for Cenveo in Minneapolis. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling and golfing. Thad is survived by his parents; wife, Michelle of Prior Lake; daughters, Lauren MacKenna and Lexie Marie Wessels, both of Prior Lake; and brother, Seth Wessels of Midland, Mich. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents; and stepbrother, James Wessels. MESA, AZ – Robert Donald Hanes, 76, passed away Aug. 8, 2010, at Hospice of the Valley in Mesa. Born Jan. 7, 1934, in Chicago, the son of Elwood and Vernie (McCready) Hanes. Married Darlene Blevins on Oct. 25, 1952, in Mount Morris; she died Jan. 6, 1989. Bert was a pressman at Rochelle Printing and Kable Printing Co., and then moved to Corinth, Miss., where he worked at Hall Printing. He transferred to their plant in Franklin, Ky., and worked there until he retired. Member of the Royal Order of the Moose. In October 1996 he moved to Mesa to pursue his lifelong passions of golfing and spending time with family and friends. Survived by son, Rodman (Valerie) and daughter, Sally Forney, both of Mesa; sisters, Betty (Gene) Corbett of Mount Morris and Dorie (Allan) Hollmann of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; brother, Dennis (Patricia) of Cincinnati; and aunt, Marie Armbruster of Mount Morris; grandsons, Joseph (Jennifer) of Monticello, Ind., Joshua of Carlsbad, Calif., and Jacob of Mesa; great-grandchildren, Preston, Lucas and Addison of Monticello.
