H. CLARENCE 'MITCH' MITCHELL - 101

MOUNT MORRIS, IL - H. CLARENCE 'MITCH' MITCHELL, 101 MOUNT MORRIS - H. Clarence "Mitch" Mitchell, 101, of Mount Morris died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Pinecrest Manor. Mitch was born Jan. 11, 1907, in Elizabeth to Wilbur and Marie (Tetard) Mitchell DVM. He married Margaret Long on Aug. 12, 1931, in Mount Morris; she died Nov. 22, 2000. Clarence was editorial director of printing publications at Kable Printing Co. He retired Feb. 26, 1967, after 45 years of employment. Mitch belonged to the Mount Morris Church of the Brethren and the International Typographical Union. He was an original trustee for the foundation board of Highland Community College, Freeport. The Highland Community College Mitchell Library is named in his honor. In Clarence's lifetime, he authored and published three books: "River Hill Soliloquy" in 1986, "Diary of a Journeyman" in 2004 and "Montana Montage" in 2006. Survived by several cousins. Also predeceased by his parents; and brother, Walter. Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Church of the Brethren, 409 W. Brayton Road, with Pastor Virginia Haney officiating. Cremation rites were accorded by Finch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mitch's memory are directed to The Good Samaritan Fund of Pinecrest Manor, 414 S. Wesley Ave., Mount Morris, IL 61054
