Barbara A. Greene

Barbara (Barb) A. Greene (nee Keller), 78, of Oregon, IL passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Serenity Hospice and Home on March 15, 2024. 

Barb was born October 1, 1945, to Howard and Lorraine Keller in Chicago, Illinois. She was a graduate of Kelly High School, Class of 1963.

Barb married John G.W. Greene on September 26, 1964, in Chicago where they started their family before moving to Glendale Heights, Illinois in 1972.  It was in Glendale Heights where her family was raised, Barb was a life-long parishioner of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.  Barb was not only a parishioner of the church but could always be found volunteering countless hours with the CCW, Knights of Columbus and Children’s Ministries.  Barb enjoyed her time as a Eucharistic Minister and presenting readings during mass.  Her selfless giving was honored when she was named St. Matthew’s Woman of the Year in 2020. 

Barb spent her working years as a general manager with the McDonald’s Corporation, after changing careers she began working for the financial institution of Bloomingdale State Bank and finished her working years in administrative rolls with the Ben Franklin and Fenton Press Corporations.  

After retiring Barb and her husband John moved to Oregon, Illinois, where they enjoyed spending more time with their family.  This created a slower paced life as they enjoyed watching the birds, and animals from their screen porch when they weren’t enjoying ice cream treats and car shows at Jay’s Drive In.  Barb will always be remembered fondly by her family and friends for her love of the lord, cooking, and crafting.    

Barb is survived by her devoted children Tina Greene, Alan (Michelle) Greene and Toni Giuffre.  Her loving Grandchildren Krista (Evan) Whaley, Kevin (Lexi Chappa) Greene, Ghen Ashton, Kimi, Nico and Natalie Giuffre and Great-Grand-daughter Harper Whaley and countless loving family members.  She was preceded in death by her Husband, John G.W. Greene, Father, Howard Keller and Mother, Lorraine Keller (nee Kozik).

Please join our family as we celebrate her life, Saturday, April 6, 2024, with visitation at 9:30a.m. and Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 1555 Glen Ellyn Road, Glendale Heights, Illinois 60139.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The St. Matthew’s CCW or Serenity Hospice and Home, 1658 S.
